La niña pertenece a un grupo de indígenas Embera Katío que llegó desplazado por el conflicto armado desde Pueblo Rico, Risaralda, en 2013 a la ciudad de Cali (Colombia), donde conviven en un casa ocupada por la comunidad, con apenas una docena de habitaciones con 204 personas, de las cuales 123 son niños pertenecientes a las 42 familias que permanecen en condiciones de escasa salubridad y fuerte hacinamiento.
